I got this wheel repair kit to fix up some of the scratches and road rash on my German boat’s wheels from the previous owner (I’m not paying 6 figures for that car!). The sandpaper and metal file (looks like a nail file) are ok. They’re nothing special, but they work. The filler is ok. I advise using gloves unless you’re extra careful about being precise and clean so you don’t get filler on your hands. The chrome spray paint isn’t the greatest..it doesn’t look like a freshly chromed wheel because it isn’t. It looks like shiny silver paint because that’s what it is. Just have realistic expectations for this. Kind of like how touch up paint will not look like a fresh professionally done smooth coat of paint, because that’s not what it is, this is not a newly chromed wheel. It’s just meant to alleviate some of the aesthetic eye sores, not truly fix it. For some basic touch ups, this is effective and dors the job ok. If you’re expecting something more seamless a nd perfect looking, you’re going to need better supplies and professional training or know a professional. This is pretty easy to use.

Understanding that this is an alloy rim repair kit/set, my husband was interested in getting it strictly for the spray paint which he says does do fine for all of his spray painting needs. The paint itself doesn’t really seem like it would match a shiny chrome or alloy wheel though, but it does well for how my husband has been using it. He likes to get things that are for one purpose but ends up using it for a completely different purpose.

I guess when I bought this kit I was hoping for something a little easier to use. It does work however, it can also be a bit messy so don’t wear anything you care about while using this. All in all the end product was definitely better than it was when I started so I give 4 stars for doing the job decently well.

I ended up using this product on a set of older rims I have that needed some assistance to make them look presentable again. As long as you follow the included directions and take your time the results are actually pretty good. The paint quality is impressive and once applied properly it dries rather quickly. You just want to be careful and block off areas that you don’t want to accidentally paint. Now that I am a bit more comfortable using this product I would definitely consider using it again, if I want to restore or improve on any other wheel sets that I own.
