I only had this product installed for few days, but so far no squicky noise like my old one used to do. Seems to works well.Quality was a bit disappointing (a lot of cracks on the metal part itself; looks like manufacturing problems, especially around areas with radius). Also, I had to complain to Amazon.com about this item, buyers be aware… at the time the picture was showing a nice rubber end-cap, but in fact I received a part with a cheap made plastic end-cap, with a space between the metal arm and the cap (dust, or other contaminants could get in with time and damage the hydraulic piston).I recommend but be aware of what you really buy.For these reasons, I would give 3 and 1/2 stars.

After 100,000 miles on the same part as this the dampener gave up the ghost and the belt started make a vibration noise. Finally tracked down the source (the dampener) and ordered a new one from Amazon. It does take a bit of finagling to get the new part in and the belt back on but it can be done. You will have to jack up the engine (after you unbolt the passenger side motor mount) in order to remove the old part and install the new. It’s a great part at a great price.

Installed in just a few minutes in the shop. Fixed annoying and common fluttering noise associated with this engine platform.Use a floor jack and a wooden block to raise the engine as you remove the engine mount. Take off the belt. Use slow, constant pressure on the tensioner while removing and Installing the belt to avoid breaking it.Done!

Installed in a Pontiac Vibe with a 1.8 Toyota engine, fit perfectly but do yourself a favor and Jack the engine.I used a 4’ breaker bar plus 3’ of pipe to compress the hydraulic piston. It also helped that I had extra long offset combination wrenches from HF.

Perfect fit for 2003 Toyota Corolla LE with the 1ZZ-FE engine.

This gates brand is much better quality than all the other ones that are 30 and $40. I bought a cheap one that only lasted a few months and immediately was not working properly. Had to spend more money on a nicer one. This one seems to be better constructed.

Works like it should. Takes about 30 minutes for me (diesel mechanic by trade). Long flex head ratcheting wrenches will make this job so easy. Jack up the engine a few inches. The noise it was making in F/R when cold is now gone. Time will tell how long it holds up
