Comparison points and tradeoffs
When comparing IAG Performance Air/Oil Separator (AOS) for Subaru Impreza WRX 15-21 (Red) with other Reservoirs options, use this source-backed detail as the primary discriminator: Category: Replacement Parts / Body & Trim / Body / Reservoirs.
Use this second fact to evaluate the tradeoff: The AOS is compatible with all fuel types, extends engine life, improves crankcase ventilation and is compatible with standard ECU calibrations. A third point to compare across alternatives is: Application note: The AOS is compatible with all fuel types, extends engine life, improves crankcase ventilation and is compatible with standard ECU calibrations.
Alternative-selection boundary
Choose an alternative when its stated identifiers, application, package, or specifications better match the requirement; no unverified competitor claim is introduced here.

Prevents oil from entering the intake
Keeping oil out of the intake is key to engine performance and longevity. This is crucial for engines that are prone to oil buildup on the valves. Oil in the intake can coat the intercooler, pipes and valves, causing damage to rubber or silicone hoses, leading to failed connections. Once inside the intake tract, oil can enter the manifold, then the combustion chamber where it can cause detonation, preignition, high emissions, smoke, low power, low gas mileage and even engine failure.
SAE Quick Connection Lines
The IAG Air / Oil Separator is equipped with a full set of custom-length SAE Quick Connection lines, making installation easier and reducing the risk of leaks with a more reliable and secure connection than standard hose clamps. Once installed, the IAG AOS system has the appearance of a factory component that seamlessly blends in with your engine.
Maintenance Free
The IAG AOS is designed for effortless upkeep. Unlike typical catch-can systems, our Air Oil Separators operate without the need for routine draining and maintenance. Separated oil gathers on AOS can walls and slowly drains into the engine’s crankcase. With the help of our unique heating system, the collected oil remains free of sludge, ensuring that there is no risk of reintroducing it into the engine.

Heated to prevent condensation
The IAG AOS has a advanced heating system to solve an issue commonly seen in lower-quality catch cans. Condensation develops when hot gasses flow through a cold hose. Overtime, the moisture mixes with the oil, creating sludge. IAG addressed this concern by connecting the AOS to the cooling system, enabling heat transfer from the engine to the AOS. By heating the AOS body to match the engine’s temperature, it significantly reduces or nearly eliminates both condensation and the associated buildup.

About this item
- KEEPING OIL OUT – Keeping oil out of the engine intake tract is extremely important towards preventing premature mechanical failure and maintaining performance. Oil in the intake tract of the engine has several detrimental effects. The oil coats the internal portions of the intake, intercooler, and piping. This oil may cause premature failure of rubber or silicone hoses, which leads to failed connections.
- ORB PORTS – Aluminum body is powder coated in Red or Black Wrinkle Finish. The side of the AOS features 3 -8 ORB removable billet hose barbs. The EJ engine has 3 ports that vent crank pressure: one on each cylinder head, and another on the top of the block. Each engine vent port receives its own connection to the AOS. By giving each engine port its own entrance to the AOS, IAG has allowed for more effective and faster excavation of crankcase pressure.
- SWIRL POT – The IAG Performance AOS’ large, 1-liter, cast aluminum swirl pot canister more effectively separates oil from the PCV system upstream of PCV gasses return to the intake system. The IAG AOS’ fully-heated cast aluminum housing, superior venting, and unique baffle design set it apart from the rest. The AOS is compatible with all fuel types, extends engine life, improves crankcase ventilation and is compatible with standard ECU calibrations.
- TESTED FOR YEARS – The IAG Performance Street V3 Air / Oil separator (AOS) is an excellent investment to keep your EJ engine running well. The AOS maintains OEM PCV system functionality, but supplements its capacity. The IAG AOS design is based on years of extensive testing on standard and competition applications.
- AOS BODY – Compact cast aluminum design has approximate 1 liter holding capacity integrated.

Be sure to have the directions readily available from the iag website even if your following one of the online videos. Alot of those videos will have different modifications on the car so things will look a little different as you follow along. I’ve only had mine in there for a few days so far so good though. DIY time 2-5 hours.
