I recently bought a 2010 GMC 2500 with a 158k miles. Doing my routine check of everything I noticed the throttle body hadn’t been serviced (cleaned) since new. So I took it off and cleaned it. After reinstall the idle was too high. It also wouldn’t relearn. Did a reset with a scan tool and it seemed to fix the high idle start while engine was hot. But when engine was cold, start up would be 2800 rpm then idle down too 650rpm. I decided to purchase a new throttle body. Used a scan tool to set idle. Since install I haven’t had a single issue with the new throttle body. I did learn that you shouldn’t move the butterfly to wide open to clean. As it will mess with the throttle position sensor and cause the issues I experienced.
