The issue with exterior storage locks is that the keys are all the same from RV to RV. Your neighbor at a campsite may be able to open your storage compartment with his key.This lock provides a key that is different than most others. I purchased one.It installed easily. I have had it two seasons without a jam.I did, also, change just the key tumblers on the remaining locks. The supplier of the replacement tumblers provide a key to remove the existing tumblers and install new ones. Very, very, easy to do.I purchased the lock tumblers from http://WWW.Uglyfish.com. There is a fish named “ugly fish”.I am in Florida (3/2013) enjoying 70 degree weather while my family is in snow country. RVing is great.

BUYER BEWARE!!! The photo for this product clearly shows that it comes with the back mounting plate however when you receive your kit it WILL NOT INCLUDE THE BACK MOUNTING PLATE. The Slam Lock cannot be installed without the back mounting plate so the kit is worthless without it. Scroll down and read other reviews where people had the same problem. I reported the problem to Amazon and received no response. I contacted the original manufacturer, AP Products, and they confirmed this kit does NOT come with the back mounting plate, even though Amazon is erroneously posting a picture indicating that it does. The employee at AP Products was kind enough to give me the part number of the back mounting plate so that I could order it separately (for an additional $15). Amazon needs to address this issue as people are purchasing this in good faith based on their description and receiving something that is completely unusable.
