The receiver you will receive is actually Drawtite branded with similar capacity ratings to the Reese branded hitch shown in the listing. It fit my 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ fine. Just keep in mind that if a Reese hitch is ordered, a Drawtite is going to show up. The item would have been four to five stars if it had been listed correctly.

  2. Imported from AmazonSource context: I didn't purchase my receiver off of Amazon, but was able to source it thru a friend. I use my Jeep 95% of the time for off-road, and the other 5% for around town driving. Mine didn't have any factory tow points in the front, so it was very difficult to find a place to hook to. I bought this mainly to have a place to yank if I get stuck while out mudding. The receiver itself is very nice. It mounts under your sway bar mounts, and then using this steel fish line wire, one additional hole on each side towards the rear of the Jeep. It would be easier to fish this bolt if the bumper was removed, but I did it with it in place. The main problem I had was with the install was my truck. Mine is all rusty, and the factory weld nuts that hold the sway bar mounts on break their welds inside the frame, and the nuts spin. This is difficult to contend with without removing the bumper. I think i settled for 5 bolts, and it's mounted that way. I removed my sway bars, so just the mounts are there for me, although they can still be used. You have to remove the plastic fill piece in the middle of the air dam under the bumper. Mine was already missing, so it didn't affect me. The only downfall for this hitch is that it does decrease your angle of ascent. My XJ has a 4.5" lift on it, and I only run 31" mud tires. I've climbed hills and gone into pits where this has hit and stopped me. If I had bigger tires or lift, the problem would go away. I have used the hitch to mount a winch in the front to pull people out. It makes it handy that the winch wires reach right up to the battery close by. When winching a stuck vehicle though, you really do need to anchor the rear hitch to a tree or another vehicle. My XJ will slide when winching a stuck Jeep. I love my hitch, and it's the best thing I've bolted to the front of it!

First of all, there was a class 2 drop hitch loose in the box (not even the right size for this hitch, no idea why it was in there) that banged around and damaged the powder coat on the receiver hitch. I reported this to Amazon, didn’t hear anything back. Secondly, THE HOLES DIDN’T LINE UP. Yes, I could have exchanged it and should have but found a way to make it work (though I shouldn’t have had to).
