The threads for the crank are fine but the threads for the nut to hold the crank sprocket in place were not machined correctly and the nut would not thread down. The threads on the shaft were machined smaller than the nut so the nut would slide 3/4 the way down the threaded portion and I could not get the nut to start correctly on the remaining threads. This looks like a machining / setup error and may not affect all units.*** Update – was sent an entire replacement. The replacement was threaded correctly and works as designed. I was able to get the job done without the new unit and it worked well holding in the crankshaft sprocket and not letting it move around. Anyone taking the crank damper off, i would highly recommend using this tool (or something similar). ***

Working on a timing chain replacement for MK7 GTI CXCA engine code. Turnover tool came in handy to put engine back in TDC after moving chain while loosening pilot valves. Definite value for the cost.

The tool was used on 2014 Volkswagen Bettle.

The OEM specialty tools are crazy expensive, so these are nice alternatives when you aren’t running a euro mechanic shop. I had some work to do on 2012 Audi A4 with a 2.0T CAEB engine, so this was expected to be just a single-use item and worked perfectly. Glad I didn’t waste the money on the OEM and have it on hand in case there is ever a round 2, 3….

As you can see in the picture, even the basic hole right angle machining is messed up.I believed there would be no problem, but I got screwed.Since it has been over 30 days since I received it, according to Amazon’s return policy, I should just throw it in the trash.

So initial review for this product is I’m not at all disappointed for the price. Now I have not used it but will be sure to make a review when I do. Definitely suggest this for any VW/Audi techs or people who are car savvy working on their own VW/Audi.
